Election Day started as a commission for Esquire to photograph polling places the day of the 2004 presidential election.

This body of work focuses on the mechanics of casting a vote. At the polls, the evidence of a specific election, candidate or campaign is invisible. What is present are the people who make the process really happen—citizens.
